About StayOnFile
Last reviewed:StayOnFile is a US LLC compliance reference and toolkit for small business owners. It exists to answer one practical question: what filings and deadlines does my LLC have, and what happens if I miss them?
Who this is for
StayOnFile is built for owners of single-member and small multi-member LLCs that are already formed. If you formed your LLC last year and you’re trying to figure out when your next annual report is due, what your franchise tax bill might look like, or what happens if you missed a deadline — that’s the audience.
What we do
- Document the annual report and franchise tax requirements for each state we cover.
- Cite the official Secretary of State and tax authority pages for every fact.
- Show the date each page was last reviewed against those sources.
- Provide a deadline checker that computes your next due dates from your state and formation date, with no account required and no data stored.
What we don’t do
- We are not a law firm or CPA practice. We don’t give legal, tax, or financial advice.
- We don’t form LLCs or act as a registered agent.
- We don’t sell ongoing software services. There’s no account, no subscription, and no reminder system. The site is a reference and a set of tools, full stop.
- We don’t cover all 50 states yet. We launched with a focused set and add states as we can verify their data carefully.
Editorial team
StayOnFile is published by a small editorial team. Drafts are written with LLM assistance and reviewed by a human editor against the official source before publication. See our Editorial Policy for how that works in practice, and our Methodology for how we source and refresh state data.
